Wild Tourism in West Virginia

West Virginia is known as the Mountain State, and a recent campaign to promote tourism in West Virginia has been touting it as being "Wild and Wonderful." While this might seem surprising to some who never considered West Virginia to be a particularly wild or exotic destination, there is more to it then meets the eyes. West Virginia is certainly a naturally beautiful state with a lot of culture to enjoy as well. One of its historical towns, Harpers Ferry, is like a town frozen in time.

The town has created museums and exhibits right inside its old homes and buildings, so that when you open the door to go inside you're stopped by a Plexiglas door or corded entrance from which you can observe the artifacts of a bygone era. There are also various outfitters in Harpers Ferry that offer whitewater rafting, canoeing, tubing and zip lining for the more adventurous travelers.
